Cockington Green Gardens - Day 1

Updated: Aug 18, 2019

The Cockington Green Gardens is a family owned and operated attraction, which was named after the English Village of Cockington in Torquay, Devon. The garden was created by Doug and Brenda Sarah, with 4 generations involved, and was open to the public on the 3rd of November 1979, meaning this year marks its 40th anniversary. Cockington Green Gardens has both an original English style village as well as an International Display Area built in 2007, representing 24 countries, with more under construction.

It has an indoor exhibition named the Rose Room, which features ‘Waverley’, a 34 room Dolls House, along with the Parsons Nose Garden Cafe. The attraction has an area for picnic lunches and has great entertainment for families, with a playground and the Miniature Steam Train ride, which encircles the International Display. Cockington Green Gardens is one of Canberra’s most popular landmark attractions and has won the Australian Tourism Award, as well as many other local tourism industry awards.
